About the pattern

The “vine leaf” or, as it is commonly written, “wine leaf” pattern is a large-scale leaf camouflage built from broad, irregular leaf shapes rather than the small blobs or pixels of a modern digital. Camopedia’s South Korea entry records that from the early 1970s many Korean ground units began wearing camouflage helmet covers printed in the “USMC Standard” or vine / wine leaf design, and that these continued into the 1980s and in some cases the 1990s. The pattern gets its name from the lobed leaves it resembles — classically the oak or vine leaf — and it sits alongside the Korean Marine Corps’ own 1970s jigsaw and granite designs. “Mitchell” and “V2” here are MegaCamo’s colourway labels for this render.

This Wine Leaf V2 colourway

The MegaCamo V2 render is a green-dominant foliage print. The base is a clear, bright-medium green, and over it sit large overlapping leaf shapes in a darker forest green, a mid olive and scattered patches of tan and khaki. The leaves are broad and lobed with irregular, almost scalloped edges, so the pattern has an organic, hand-drawn quality rather than a rigid, geometric one. Because the shapes are large and the greens are well matched, it prints with a soft, rolling rhythm — closer to a forest floor than to a flat graphic.

How it reads on the garment

This pattern reads clearly as foliage from even a short distance. The big leaf shapes give it a relaxed, natural drape, and because the greens are mid-tone rather than very dark, the tee stays bright and wearable rather than reading as heavy field gear. On the body the large leaves break up the silhouette pleasingly without looking busy, and the tan accents add just enough warmth to keep it from feeling flat. The pale hood lining and collar sit lightly against the green, keeping the neckline open and clean.
