About the Rhodesian Brushstroke

The Rhodesian Brushstroke is the pattern worn by Rhodesian (today Zimbabwean) security forces from the mid-1960s to 1980. It is a brush-drawn camouflage: short horizontal strokes over a solid base rather than soft blotches or pixels, which gives it a painterly, hand-made look that collectors recognise instantly. The fine strokes are the through-line of the whole family; the broad shapes and palette are what change from rendition to rendition.

The v4 colorway: a muted sage rendition

v4 is the MegaCamo label for this version, and it is the least saturated of the green brushstrokes here. Instead of a bright olive, you get a greyed sage or olive-drab over a pale base, with the tan and light-brown blocks kept subtle and the fine strokes in a softer olive. The overall effect is dusty and understated – greener than the desert version, but far less vivid than the classic green-on-brown.
