Pattern: Chocolate Chip Desert MKIII

This is the MKIII rendition of the six-colour desert camouflage, the classic ‘chocolate chip’ or ‘coffee stain’ pattern made famous in the late 20th century. MegaCamo’s catalogue label ‘Chocolate Chip’ refers to that distinctive design, and the MKIII colourway is the pale, cool member of the desert set.

MegaCamo’s catalogue calls this the Chocolate Chip Desert MKIII. On the image a pale sand-cream ground is broken by wide, wavy bands of tan and a soft lavender-grey, then covered with the small, scattered dark ‘chip’ spots that give the pattern its nickname. The palette is pale and calm, with the lilac band as the distinguishing touch.

On a long-sleeve hooded shirt the pale chip pattern reads as a light, dry desert camo. The wavy bands and scattered specks give it that instantly recognisable chocolate-chip character, and the soft palette keeps it bright and easy to pair with light clothing. It is a clean, classic piece.

The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, feels smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a lightweight piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.

Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top size; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print is applied across the whole garment, so the pattern continues over the chest, arms and hood without a break.

Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what lets us offer patterns that would never be worth stocking.

Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, do not use bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Cold, gentle washing is the best way to keep the colours bright.
