Pattern: French Lizard D — a classic tan, maroon and sage brushstroke
This is the lizard pattern the way most collectors picture it. The base is a warm pale tan or khaki-cream, and over it flow broad brushstrokes in a deep brick-maroon and a soft sage green, with occasional darker olive accents. The strokes are long, wavy and organic, wrapping around the body without a hard edge anywhere.
MegaCamo names this the French Lizard D. The family is the French léopard, better known to collectors as TAP 47 or simply the Denison-derived lizard, worn by the French Army from 1947 through to the late 1980s and descended from the British airborne Denison smock. Crucially, the pattern was printed in many dye lots over about a decade and issued concurrently, so the family is naturally a group of variants rather than one immutable design. The D, with its warm tan base and red-and-green strokes, captures the classic look of that heritage.
On the garment the D reads bold and unmistakably military, yet warm rather than aggressive. The tan base keeps it light, while the maroon and sage give it the characteristic lizard depth. Because the brushstrokes are wide and flowing, the pattern has a big, painterly rhythm that looks good across the whole garment — not chopped up into small motifs. It is a strong, recognisable camo that works with olive, denim, khaki and brown.
Why own it
The French lizard is one of the great historical camouflage families, and the D is its classic representative: warm tan, rich red, soft green, all in a flowing brushstroke. If you want a single sheet that says “this is what lizard camo is,” this is it. It is also easy to wear — the warm palette is far more versatile than a high-contrast woodland, and it gives any outfit an unmistakably vintage military character.
Fit, fabric and care
This is a long-sleeve lightweight hooded tee in a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend — stretchy, smooth and light. It comes in S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL and weighs 0.374 kg. Being made to order, a small production tolerance of about ±5% applies, so check the size chart before choosing. Wash at or below 45 °C, do not bleach, and avoid long soaks.
Made to order
The shirt is printed all-over and sewn to order, so there is a production and fulfilment lead time of about 4–7 days before it ships; delivery then depends on where you live. The D pattern covers the entire garment in a continuous print.
Part of the collection
This D is one of several French Lizard sheets in the catalogue, joining the A2, B1, C1, tropical, E1 and F1 variants. If you like this classic warm look, browse the broader French camouflage family — the CCE woodland and Daguet desert sheets add more of the same heritage.
