Pattern: Australian RAAF GPU — grey-blue air pattern
This is the Royal Australian Air Force General Purpose Uniform (GPU) pattern. Introduced for RAAF personnel, the GPU is a grey and blue-toned disruptive pattern designed for air-base and general-purpose use rather than bush warfare. It is a distinct Australian pattern in its own right.
The RAAF GPU colourway is a cool, slate-leaning design. The base is a mid grey, and over it sit soft-edged patches of blue-grey, dark slate and a light grey, giving the whole thing a steely, maritime-grey feel. There is no green or tan in this palette.
On a hooded long-sleeve shirt this reads as a clean, modern grey-blue camo. It is understated and technical, and the cool palette works well with jeans and neutral streetwear.
Why own it: this is a genuine RAAF pattern that is rarely given the same attention as the more famous AUSCAM woodland. Its steel-grey-blue look is distinctive and contemporary, making it an easy-to-wear choice.
The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, feels smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a lightweight piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.
Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top size; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print is applied across the whole garment, so the pattern continues over the chest, arms and hood without a break.
Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what lets us offer patterns that would never be worth stocking.
Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, do not use bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Cold, gentle washing is the best way to keep the colours bright.
