This is the chocolate-chip desert pattern taken cool. The base is a pale cream and soft beige, over it sit large, gentle grey-sage and blue-grey rounded blobs, and the whole surface is sprinkled with small, irregular black spots that read like chocolate chips scattered through the print. It is the classic six-colour desert structure — big soft shapes plus a dusting of dark speckles — but here the palette is pale, cool and muted rather than warm and sandy.

The chocolate-chip family, in its classic American form, is one of the most recognisable desert patterns of the late 20th century, and this is an interpretation of that layout through a colder palette. The base cream and the grey-sage blobs replace the usual tan and khaki, while the black speckling stays as the signature detail that gives the pattern its name.
