Pattern: Bulgarian 1979 Splinter
This is the Bulgarian 1979 Splinter, a camouflage built from angular splinter shapes. Splinter patterns use jagged, slashing colour fragments rather than soft blobs, and this version sits in a greenwood palette with a fine grain running through it.
MegaCamo’s catalogue calls this the Bulgarian 1979 Splinter. On the image the ground is an olive-green, and the splinter shapes are a darker forest green and a warm brown, scattered in angular, broken fragments. A fine stippled grain fills the ground, giving the whole print a fabric-like texture.
On the hooded tee the angular splinters break the surface into sharp, dynamic pieces. The green-and-brown palette is firmly woodland, and the fragmented construction reads as tougher and more broken-up than a soft blotch camo. It is a characterful, natural-looking pattern.
Why own it: the 1979 Splinter is a distinctive Cold-War Bulgarian design. The angular splinter construction and the green-and-brown palette give it a rugged, collected look that stands apart from the more common woodland mottles.
The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, feels smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a lightweight piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.
Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top size; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print is applied across the whole garment, so the pattern continues over the chest, arms and hood without a break.
Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what lets us offer patterns that would never be worth stocking.
Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, do not use bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Cold, gentle washing is the best way to keep the colours bright.
