Pattern: German WWII Platanenmuster (Plane Tree) — Fall
The warm autumn member of Germany’s first Waffen-SS camouflage family — tan-khaki ground broken by scattered dark leaf spots.
About the pattern
Platanenmuster is German for “plane tree pattern,” and it is one of the earliest camouflage designs the Waffen-SS fielded during World War II, introduced around 1937. Its defining feature is a scatter of large, overlapping leaf-like marks that echo the mottled bark of a plane tree — the irregular blotches rather than the formal splinter shapes of the Wehrmacht’s earlier patterns. It came in seasonal printings, and this is the autumn one.
It is worth being precise about the lineage: Platanenmuster belonged to the SS camouflage programme rather than the standard army issue, and the pattern is one of the most studied and reproduced of the German wartime series. The plant-like mottling gives it a distinctly organic, almost bark-strewn look that sets it apart from the hard-edged or spotted patterns of the same era.
This Fall colorway
This is the autumn (Fall) printing of the family. The ground runs to warm tan and khaki-brown, and the leaf-like blobs sit in darker brown, charcoal-black and brushed olive. There is essentially no bright green, which is what makes it read as a dry, late-season palette — the kind of tones you associate with leaf litter and bare woodland. In the family it is the natural counterpart to the greener Spring printing.
How it reads on the garment
On a long-sleeve hooded tee the tan-and-brown field looks like dried foliage rather than a bright uniform print. The scattered leaf marks break the torso into irregular shapes instead of hard blocks, so the surface softens at a distance and reads as texture up close. The light hood lining and collar sit quietly against the warm base, and worn with olive, brown or denim it carries a rich, earthy autumn tone that is easy to wear.
Why own it
German WWII camouflage is some of the most collected in the world, and Platanenmuster is a genuine early piece of that history — not just another woodland. For anyone drawn to the militaria side, this is a well-defined, historically traceable design. For a purely wearable angle, the warm tan-and-brown palette is much more versatile than a bright modern camo and pairs naturally with autumnal clothing. And because the pattern has a real seasonal brother, it is a satisfying piece to own alongside — or instead of — the greener Spring printing.
Fit, fabric and care
This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded t-shirt made for everyday layering. It is cut from a stretch 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend that moves with you and holds its shape, with a comfortable regular fit and sizes from S to 3XL. It weighs about 0.374 kg, so it packs small and layers easily under a jacket or a fleece in cooler weather.
- 94% polyester / 6% spandex
- Sizes S–3XL (choose your size from the options)
- Approx. 0.374 kg — lightweight and packable
- Wash at or below 45°C; do not bleach; do not soak for extended periods
Made to order
Each hooded tee is printed and sewn to order rather than stored in a warehouse, so the pattern is freshly applied for you. Production and fulfilment take about 4–7 days before your order is handed to shipping; courier delivery time then depends on your destination. Please double-check the size chart before ordering — because each item is made for you, returns are easier to avoid by choosing the right size up front. If a print runs slightly differently from what you see on screen, that is the nature of made-to-order garment printing.
Disclosure
This is a reproduction / military-inspired item, not an original wartime garment. The 1937 introduction and Waffen-SS association are documented pattern history, but the shirt itself is a modern printed reproduction for everyday wear. The warm autumn colouring is a MegaCamo rendition of the design; original Platanenmuster printings varied in tone.
