Pattern: Six-Colour Desert “chocolate chip” — a woodland Aspic colourway

This lightweight long-sleeve hooded tee runs the chocolate-chip structure in a busy woodland green. The ground is a mid olive-green, the broad soft-edged blotches tumble in a deeper green, brown and tan, and the small dark flecks that give the family its name are scattered through in near-black. The construction is the six-colour desert — big organic shapes over a lighter field, dotted with dark chips — but here it has been pulled firmly toward a woodland palette.

The family is the United States Six-Colour Desert, nicknamed Chocolate Chip or Cookie Dough because the small dark flecks read like chips baked into cookie dough. Developed by the US and standardized for the Desert Battle Dress Uniform from the early 1980s, it was copied by many forces in the region, including long use in Saudi Arabia and standardization in the United Arab Emirates around 1993. This rendition is a MegaCamo colourway of that family, a woodland-green reading, and “Aspic” is the catalogue label for this particular arrangement of the shapes.

How it reads on the garment

In woodland green the print becomes much busier and more active than a neutral desert. The dense green, brown and tan shapes with their dark specks give it a broken, layered texture that reads well at a distance and keeps its interest up close. On the hood and sleeves the design flows around the body without a single loud panel.
