Pattern: German Zelttarnmuster Autumn
The warm, autumn-facing side of the Bundeswehr’s reversible shelter-half pattern — green, brown and black amoebic shapes over a splintered ground.
About the pattern
Camopedia records that the only general-purpose camouflage item to make it into the Bundeswehr supply system in its early years was a reversible Zeltbahn (shelter half). Possibly created by combining elements of both World War Two Wehrmacht and SS pattern designs, the German Zelt-tarnmuster is nevertheless a fairly unique design. One side (Summer) consists of black, dark olive and tan amoebic shapes over a splintered background; this “Autumn” render is the warmer, browner-facing side of that same reversible design, with softer, more muted tones.
This Zelttarnmuster Autumn colourway
The ground is a mid olive-tan, and over it sit broad, amoebic, organic shapes in a muted green, a brown, a dark olive and scattered black, over a faintly splintered background. Unlike the sharp splinter patterns, the shapes here are soft and irregular, with rounded, broken edges. The palette is warm and earthy — olive, green, brown, tan and black — with the warmer browns and muted greens giving it an autumnal cast. The faint splintered background adds a subtle linear texture beneath the amoebic shapes.
How it reads on the garment
Because the shapes are soft and the palette is earthy, this pattern prints with a warm, natural feel rather than a crisp graphic one. On the body the olive-tan ground sits behind the muted green, brown and black amoebic shapes, giving the surface a soft, mottled texture with a faint splintered undertone. It reads as a warm, organic woodland with a unique German character. The warm ground sits well against the light hood lining and collar, keeping the neckline tidy.
Why own it
If you want a genuinely unusual German camouflage, the Zelttarnmuster is a strong pick — it is a fairly unique post-war Bundeswehr design, documented as the early shelter-half pattern that combined Wehrmacht and SS elements. Its warm, muted olive, green and brown palette appeals to collectors of German camouflage, and it is easy to wear, pairing naturally with olive, khaki, tan, denim and brown. It is a distinctive, organic camo.

Production and fulfilment take about 4–7 days before your order is handed to shipping; courier delivery time then depends on your destination. Please double-check the size chart before ordering — because each item is made for you, returns are easier to avoid by choosing the right size up front. If a print runs slightly differently from what you see on screen, that is the nature of made-to-order garment printing.
Disclosure
This is a reproduction / military-inspired item, not an issued uniform, and the garment itself is a modern printed piece for everyday wear. The Zelttarnmuster naming and its Bundeswehr shelter-half lineage come from documented pattern history; “Autumn” is a MegaCamo label and this is not official issue equipment.
