Pattern: Bulgarian 1946 Splinter
This is the Bulgarian 1946 Splinter, an early post-war pattern in a green-and-brown palette. It uses the angular splinter construction but rounds it off slightly, and the warm tan-and-green palette gives it a distinctly earthy, mid-century feel.
MegaCamo’s catalogue calls this the Bulgarian 1946 Splinter. On the image the ground is a warm khaki-tan, and the splinter shapes are an olive-green and a muted brown, angular but with softened edges, scattered evenly across the fabric. The palette is warm and terrestrial.
On a long-sleeve shirt the green-and-tan splinters read as a warm, natural woodland camo. The khaki ground and olive-brown shapes give it an authentic vintage character, and the broken splinter construction keeps it from looking flat. It is a warm, wearable pattern.
Why own it: the 1946 Splinter is an appealing early Bulgarian design, and its warm tan-and-green palette is genuinely handsome. It has real post-war history and the splinter construction makes it distinctive without being harsh.
The garment. This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded T-shirt, printed all over with the pattern you see on the image. It is cut with long sleeves and a hood and fits as a regular, athletic top. The fabric is a 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend, so it stretches with you, feels smooth against the skin and takes the all-over print cleanly. It is a lightweight piece — about 0.374 kg — and runs in sizes S to 3XL.
Fit and size. Because the sizes run S–3XL, pick the one closest to your usual top size; the stretch in the spandex gives a little forgiveness, but for a closer cut take a size down and for a looser, layer-over fit take a size up. The print is applied across the whole garment, so the pattern continues over the chest, arms and hood without a break.
Made to Order. Each shirt is printed and sewn after you place your order. Production and fulfilment take roughly 4 to 7 days before the item ships — that is the time to make and pack it, not the total delivery time, which then depends on transport once it leaves us. It is not sitting on a shelf, and that is what lets us offer patterns that would never be worth stocking.
Care. To protect the print, machine wash at or below 45°C, do not use bleach and avoid prolonged soaking. Launder on a normal cycle with like colours and don’t tumble dry hot. Cold, gentle washing is the best way to keep the colours bright.
