About the pattern

Xingkong (星空) means “starry sky,” and it is the camouflage the Chinese People’s Liberation Army adopted in 2019 across all branches. It stepped in for the Type 07 digital family and, importantly, moved the whole force onto a shared set of designs instead of branch-specific colourways — Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines now use the same prints.

Instead of the blocky pixel squares of Type 07, Xingkong uses a fine scatter of tiny digital granules laid beneath soft, cloud-like bands. That softer structure is what gives it better concealment across close and distant viewing. It was revealed publicly in September 2019 around the 70th anniversary of the PRC and is issued with the Type 19 and Type 21 uniform series. It is a real, current national-issue pattern — not an invented catalogue print.

This Jungle colorway

This is the leafy Xingkong rendition. The base is a muted sage-green, and the cloud masses run from olive and mid-green into darker grey-green, charcoal and occasional brown-tinged patches. There is no harsh green here — the whole thing is slightly desaturated and natural, very much a temperate/jungle green rather than a bright parade green. “Jungle” is a MegaCamo colourway label; the issued family came in five standard schemes (urban, woodland, jungle, desert and tundra), and this is the green one.

How it reads on the garment

On a long-sleeve hooded tee, the green field wears like a softer, more organic woodland than the pixel digitals that preceded it. The fine star granulation breaks up the surface with a matte, almost textile texture, so the green never looks flat or repeated. The light hood and collar sit against the sage base without clashing, and at arm’s length the soft masses blend the torso and arms into one continuous shape. Paired with olive, black, brown or denim it reads as a confident but not loud outdoor pattern.

Why own it

This is the most wearable of the Xingkong family for anyone who likes green camouflage but has outgrown the hard-edged digital look. It is current, it is PLA history in the making, and it is genuinely distinct from the pixel-block and woodland-look patterns that flood streetwear. The tiny-star construction makes it easy to spot as something newer than a 2000s digital. If you favour greens, this belongs in the rotation; and because the five Xingkong schemes are so different in tone, it sits well beside the warmer desert and the neutral Arid variants.

Fit, fabric and care

This is a lightweight long-sleeve hooded t-shirt made for everyday layering. It is cut from a stretch 94% polyester / 6% spandex blend that moves with you and holds its shape, with a comfortable regular fit and sizes from S to 3XL. It weighs about 0.374 kg, so it packs small and layers easily under a jacket or a fleece in cooler weather.

Disclosure

This is a reproduction / military-inspired item, not issued Chinese uniform kit. The 2019 adoption and Type 19 / Type 21 fielding are documented pattern history, but the garment itself is a modern printed reproduction for everyday wear. The green “Jungle” colouring is a MegaCamo interpretation of the design; the official Xingkong family was issued in five standard schemes.
