Pattern: German WWII Splittertarn Luft
The air force splinter pattern — grey-green, moss and grey-blue splintered shapes with the classic rain streaks.
About the pattern
Splittertarn (splinter pattern) is one of the most distinctive German camouflage families, defined by angular, splintered shapes overlaid with fine “rain streaks”. The wartime Wehrmacht version is known as Splittertarn 31, and Camopedia records it as a design descended from First World War-era German experiments. The “Luft” designation here refers to a Luftwaffe-associated colourway. This render is a cool-toned splinter pattern — grey-green, moss and grey-blue splinters with the characteristic rain streaks — a crisper, more muted variant of the family.
This Splittertarn Luft colourway
The ground is a pale grey-green, and over it sit angular, splintered shapes in a moss green, a grey-blue and a darker charcoal-green, all overlaid with thin rain streaks. The splinters are sharp and fragmented, with straight edges and angular corners. The palette is cool — grey-green, moss and grey-blue — with no warm brown or tan, so the pattern reads as a crisp, muted blue-green splinter. The rain streaks cut thinly across the surface, adding the signature wet, streaky texture.
How it reads on the garment
Because the palette is cool and the shapes are angular, this pattern prints with a crisp, broken feel. On the body the pale grey-green ground sits behind the moss and grey-blue splinters, giving the surface a fragmented, streaky texture. It reads as a cool-toned splinter camo — muted, crisp and distinctive — with the fine rain streaks adding an organic detail. The pale ground blends cleanly into the light hood lining and collar, keeping the neckline tidy.
Why own it
If you like the German splinter family but want a cooler, more subdued version than the classic green-and-brown, this Luft colourway is a strong pick. It carries the documented German splinter lineage, so it appeals to collectors of German World War Two camouflage, and its cool grey-green and moss palette is a genuinely unusual departure that pairs naturally with olive, grey, denim and navy. It is a crisp, distinctive camo.

Production and fulfilment take about 4–7 days before your order is handed to shipping; courier delivery time then depends on your destination. Please double-check the size chart before ordering — because each item is made for you, returns are easier to avoid by choosing the right size up front. If a print runs slightly differently from what you see on screen, that is the nature of made-to-order garment printing.
Disclosure
This is a reproduction / military-inspired item, not an issued uniform, and the garment itself is a modern printed piece for everyday wear. The Splittertarn naming comes from documented pattern history; “Luft” refers to this cool-toned interpretation and this is not official issue equipment.
